If you’re brand-new to podcasts, welcome! Here are some step-by-step instructions on how to listen:

Podcast Apps

Every episode of Hey, It’s Me is available here at the website, and you can listen via the embedded player on each episode page. However, the best way to listen to podcasts is to use a podcast app (or “podcatcher”). Using these apps, you can search for new shows, download and try out individual episodes, and you can subscribe to your favorite shows. When you subscribe to a podcast, the app will automatically download new episodes as soon as they’re posted, so you can be sure you’re always up to date with the latest!

Here are a few options:

  • On iOS devices: Apple’s Podcasts app is the most popular one in the world, and it’s not only free but it comes pre-installed on every iOS device. So unless you’ve deleted it, you already have this app on your device! Some other popular podcast apps include Overcast, Pocket Casts, Downcast, and Goodpods. Click on any of those links and you’ll be taken directly to the App Store, where you can download the app of your choice. (Overcast and Pocket Casts are free to download with premium upgrade options with a paid subscription. Downcast costs a few dollars.)

  • On Android devices: Some popular podcast apps for Android include Pocket Casts, AntennaPod, Goodpods, and Podcast Addict. All of them are free to download from the Google Play store. Pocket Casts and Podcast Addict have premium upgrade options with a paid subscription.

Downloading and Listening

Once you’ve decided which app you want to use and downloaded the app to your device, it’s time to start listening!

  • If you already know the title of the show you want to listen to (perhaps one of your friends mentioned it or you heard about it on the radio), you can enter the title in the search feature of your app to find it. (Depending on the app, this might be a search bar on the main screen, or you may need to touch “Search” or “Add” to get to a specific search screen.)

  • Many apps also have a browsing screen, where you can find shows based on category (such as “Arts & Literature,” “Sports,” “True Crime,” “Pop Culture,” and so on).

To add Hey, It’s Me to your app, here are a few links that will take you directly to the show (just choose the link for the app you’re using):

You can also manually add Hey, It’s Me to most apps by pasting our RSS address into the app: http://www.heyitsmepodcast.com/rss

Once you’ve found a show you’re interested in, you can see an episode list that will let you download individual episodes so that you can try out the show. If you decide you like it, you can then subscribe, and the app will automatically download each new episode as soon as it’s released. (The specific steps for how to download and subscribe depends on which app you’re using, so check out your app’s website for more detailed instructions.)
